Each match consists of 3 rounds of play.  There are 3 singles and 3 doubles played per round for a match total of 18 points.  Rd #1 - 1 vs 1 (singles and doubles, one set with ad scoring), 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3; Rd #2 1 vs 2, 2 vs 3 and 3 vs 2; Rd #3 1 vs 3, 2 vs 1 and 3 vs 2).  This was instituted years ago due to the abundance of quality players in So. Cal. and to eliminate stacking.  A player may not play singles AND doubles in the same match.  Players may also be "subbed out" after any set, but cannot return.  This system actually allows for more "coaching and strategy" to be used.

The top three teams in each league qualify for the CIFSS (California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section) playoffs.

The Pacific Coast League is loaded with individual, nationally ranked, talent on both the girls and boys teams.  The PCL might be the toughest high school tennis league in the nation.
